This is an ideal opportunity to join a team dedicated to supporting the understanding of law. We are passionate about the rule of law as it is the foundation of a just society, a society in which everyone can realise their full potential.
About the role:
We are looking for an experienced employment lawyer with WHS experience who has a keen interest in writing and content creation, and an excellent understanding of the processes in a practitioner’s workflow.
The primary purpose of this role is to develop and maintain high quality up-to-date practical legal content on workplace and WHS law for LexisNexis’ popular Practical Guidance product, which is Australia’s most established and trusted digital ‘how-to guide’ of legal practice.
This role is a permanent 4 to 5 days a week role. Some regular in-office time is preferable, but there is also the opportunity to work flexibly and from home. It could also suit interstate applicants.
Key responsibilities:
• Develop new workplace and WHS law content such as guidance notes, precedents and checklists as well as user-friendly, high value tools such as comparative tables, and training materials
• Update and enhance existing content in the Employment and WHS modules
• Keep subscribers up to date on developments in workplace law in Australia through current awareness initiatives
• Support our sales, marketing and engagement teams by promoting content in the module through articles, webinars, masterclasses and/or podcasts (as appropriate)
• Work with other legal writers across the Practical Guidance team
• Autonomy to drive content plans and priorities for the digital delivery of workplace and WHS law content to private practice and in-house lawyers, barristers, government and regulatory bodies, academics and students
To be successful in this role, you will have:
• 3+ years PQE with a keen interest in writing, content creation and legal research
• Experience in an Australian mid to top tier law firm or in-house counsel role or equivalent
• A strong practice background in workplace and WHS law
• Excellent communication and plain-English writing skills with high level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Aptitude for building and fostering relationships with a range of diverse clients and local and international stakeholders
• Excellent analytical, problem solving and organisational skills.
What’s in this role for you?
• An excellent opportunity to work with one of the major providers of legal research and technology solutions
• Share in our global mission and contribute every day to advance of the Rule of Law
• Exciting and engaging long-term career path as an alternative to legal practice that remains engaged with the legal industry, building on previous legal experience
• A supportive, collaborative and passionate team to work with and a corporate culture that invests in its people and prioritises wellbeing
• Flexible working conditions that promote a healthy work/life balance
• Training and upskilling provided for editorial and technical skills
• Exciting career and personal development opportunities
• Get extra 2 days of volunteering leave each year
