The National Tertiary Education Union (NTEU) represents over 27,000 academic and professional staff in universities and other tertiary education providers throughout Australia.

The Union's SA Division, which represents members employed at the University of Adelaide, Flinders University, and the University of South Australia, is seeking to employ a highly motivated staff member to join its team of industrial and organising staff.

Recent graduates and experienced industrial officers are strongly encouraged to apply.

This position is full-time and fixed-term (22 months) and is available immediately.

The successful candidate will be located at the SA Division office in Adelaide but will also have specified Branch allocated time which will involve travelling to Flinders University and other universities in SA.

The successful candidate will be assigned a mix of duties based on level of experience, including working in a team and taking responsibility for industrial casework, collective enforcement activity, workplace disputes, and upholding member rights and Enterprise Agreements.

The successful applicant will demonstrate the following criteria or attributes:

- A commitment to unionism and workplace rights, and advocacy for social justice;

- Elevated digital and verbal literacies and online skills and capacities;

- Experience working cooperatively in teams-based environments;

- Exceptional social and interpersonal skills;

- Have experience in providing industrial advice to members, Branches, and the Division, or capacity to develop the necessary skills;

- Have experience in negotiating workplace grievances/issues and industrial disputes with management, or capacity to develop the necessary
skills;

- Have experience in providing high-level technical support in Enterprise Bargaining negotiations, or capacity to develop the necessary skills;

- Have experience in preparations and appearances before the Fair Work Commission and other tribunals and courts, or capacity to develop
the necessary skills; and

- Knowledge of the tertiary sector would be an advantage.

This position will complement an established industrial team in the South Australian Division Office, with suitable mentoring and guidance as appropriate.

The position will be filled at either NTEU Level 6 or 7 ($105,372 to 132,019 p.a.) depending on skills and experience, plus 17% employer superannuation contributions. Terms and conditions for this position are covered by a national collective agreement which has terms comparable with NTEU members in the industry.
